Blueberry Smoothie

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Makes: 1-2 Servings

Take a trip to the dark side with this luscious & velvety blackberry smoothie!

Blackberries are both sweet and tart and have the perfect juicy and plump texture. The benefits of these berry beauties go well beyond their yummy taste though….Blackberries are full of vitamins and minerals like C, K, and manganese, high in fiber, and may boost brain health. They’re also low in calories, carbs, and fat! 

Ingredients:

  • 175 ml almond milk, or milk of choice
  • Spoonful of plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 banana (frozen)
  • 250 g blackberries (frozen)
  • 1 tbsp raw cacao or carob powder
  • ½ tsp almond extract
  • 1 tbsp almond butter, or any nut butter
  • Handful of microgreens(kale, broccoli or cabbage work best!)
  • 1 tbsp honey, optional for sweetness
  • Optional add-ins: Fresh spinach, shelled hemp hearts, protein powder, chia seeds, activated charcoal

*Tip: Freeze your banana & blackberries a few hours (or days) in advance so you can skip the ice and get an even creamier and more flavorful smoothie! If your fruit is not frozen, add some ice until the desired consistency is achieved. 

Instructions:

  1. Combine all of your ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. 
  2. Top with additional frozen blackberries.
  3. Enjoy immediately!
